The nerds love themselves some retro. In that vein, we start this week’s show with a trip back in time 100 years and look at some postcards that predicted exactly how we’d be living in the year 2000. Turns out they got a few things right. (although we don’t use quite as many balloons as they imagined.)
Speaking of 100 years ago, that’s when Virginia Campbell was born… she of the now viral video showing her rapt in the throws of her new iPad.
In more recent retro, Art reveals a long lost survey that asked librarians to give their opinions about sex… and got the surveyor fired in the process! We also learn that doing it “in the stacks” isn’t quite as dirty as it sounds. Perhaps our minds are being perverted by reading too many Archie comics, where this month we are being introduced to Riverdale’s first gay character. No, it’s not Jughead,… it’s Kevin, and it turns out, he’s fabulous!
Crashboy then shows us a few children’s toys that might make you scratch your head. After all, who actually green lit the coat rack that enables little Johnny to hang his coat on a bear’s erection? (we couldn’t make this stuff up)
We close out the show with a trip back to geekville, and look at the future of cellphones. Will Crashboy get one implanted in his head? Will Art heed the warning of Stephen Hawking and not talk to aliens? Will either of the nerds laugh at the first video ever uploded on Youtube? (elephant penis joke?… really?) And just what the hell is Stephen Baldwin doing begging for money on the interweb?
Plus… why you probably can’t buy halal Triscuits, where “4/20” actually comes from, and in a stunning turn of events, “South Park” offends people. All that and more, on Iceland’s 34th most popular podcast… Lesser Nerds.
