So the next time someone is having a Beta/VHS conversation, or even a Bluray/HD DVD conversation, the nerds can tell you how to trump them all… just say “CED Videodisc” and watch the room grow silent.  Don’t know what it is?  Well, frankly, we didn’t either until a Lesser Listener got us on to it.  It seems the battle between CED and Laserdisc was no Clash of The Titans.  Which reminds us: what do movie theatres have to gain from switching to 3D projectors?  Apparently? A lot!

This week, the nerds are concerned about your health.

First, we go to Australia to look at the world’s first bionic eye.  Then, back stateside, where a rather killjoy group of scientists tells us what exactly what is causing us to see our lives flash before our eyes when we die (turns out it’s gas… who knew?). So even though we can’t know what comes after death, we can at least know what’s in iPhone OS 4: ads. And more addictive games.

Plus, how Visa can predict whether you’ll get a divorce,  why one British man should have considered getting one from his somewhat, er, healthy girlfriend, and Art falls in love a girl on the interweb, despite thinking she’s a potential fraud.

Is Starcraft 2 Beta Breakup Girl a fake?

  • Yes. I can tell by the pixels and from seeing a few shops in my time. (50%)
  • Ka-raaaaazeeee! (50%)
  • No! Brad got what he deserved for cheating on such a hottie! (0%)

All that and more, on the special St. Drogo’s Day edition of Lesser Nerds.
