Miley Cyrus, Uber Alles

This week finds Art in a tizzy about the P.O.S. that is Internet Explorer.  It seems his computer had a major malfunction leaving him little option but to use Microsoft’s ubiquitous browser for a day.  And it’s a day too many.

Greater folks than the nerds have looked into the gender bias inherent in children’s TV ads, but this week we look at a fascinating visualization of that very phenomenon.  An intrepid netizen took it upon himself to come up with a word cloud of keywords from children’s ads aimed at boys, and another one aimed at girls.  Let’s just say the results probably won’t surprise you.

What WILL surprise you is the reasoning of a Washington D.C woman who last week attacked a famous Gauguin painting in the National Gallery of Art.  (hint: Mr. Gauguin was big on the hot girl girl action)  And if you’re looking for a little girl action of the artificial kind, you’ll have to wait a while before you can get your sexy on with Miley Cyrus’ artificial likeness.  After all, the doll sold out in two days!

The nerds are giddy this week after spending a bit of time on  Wikibombs, a collection of dubious Wikipedia entries, as collected and curated by a thoughtful intertube inhabitant.  We look at some of the better entries including: “Easter”, “lower back tattoos”, and of course… “Charlie Sheen”

Would YOU let a company advertise on your house if they paid your mortgage?  The nerds debate the pros and cons of a new offer from net company Adzookie, and discover among other things that Crashboy has standards, and Art is a bit of a whore.  Although both of them coming out smelling clean in comparison to the woman in New York who is living in a 90 sq. ft closet.

What’s Google up to?  After all, German courts finally decided the company could continue with their street view service in Deutschland… yet they have now chosen to stop of their own volition.  The nerds look at the possible reasons, and in doing so discover that Microsoft actually might be better than Google at something!

All that plus, the great Pringles shortage of ’03, what exactly is a “Mushroom Teleporter”, and Ray Bradbury brings sexy back.  All on Billy Ray’s favorite podcast, Lesser Nerds.
