Ah, the holiday season approacheth. So the nerds thought we’d throw a party for all the people who put the pep in the podcast. Art pulled a few strings and got us in to New York’s legendary Russian Tea Room where we once again get put by the bathroom! Crashboy sees a silver lining though, as our location allowed us to chat with lots of people as they answered nature’s call.

We all celebrate this time of year differently. Some open one present on Christmas eve, some have Chinese food, and some have a statue of a Spanish peasant taking a dump. After all, celebrations around the world can get kind of wacky. Heck, even Ron Jeremy is busy this holiday season, making a short film mostly just because the title was kinda funny. And in celebration of the opening of “Tron: Legacy”, we take an oh so brief look at some of the original “Tron”‘s biggest mistakes, including a bit of a whopper.

Then it’s interview time at the Russian Tea Room. The nerds look high and low for someone to give us the goods on the hottest nerd gifts this season… thus tech guru Carmi Levy drops by to tell us why that 3D TV might be a really expensive clothes rack in a few years.

Of course, in a few years we might not even be around. It turns out the U.S. government has some new guidelines for what to do in case of a nuclear explosion. The problem? Figuring out a way to tell everyone without making the entire country freak out.

All that plus, Larry Flynt’s give of love to Julian Assange, 9 ways to get in touch with Santa, and a few holiday surprises. All on Krampus’ favourite podcast, Lesser Nerds.

The final frontier seems to be calling the nerds this week. A lot of our topics deal with space. Before we get there though, it’s time to check the box office to see how The Social Network did. And the the results are…. well, a bit confusing. Seems a number one opening weekend is still not what the filmmakers had hoped for. We also revisit Shit My Dad Says to see Crashboy’s laugh quotient dangerously dipping and Art still calling for the head of Shat. The nerds then delve into a complex and moving discussion on the philosophical, ethical and socioeconomic implications of getting Jessica Alba actually naked. (unlike her latest movie where she faked it.) And if you expected us to talk about George Lucas’s announcement this week that he will be converting all the Star Wars films to 3D for upcoming theatrical release…. you’re right, we do. (but we kinda leave out fan boy caps at home, fret not)

Crashboy takes us through a study of 11 sci fi predictions that actually came true, in which our true nerd bona fides come into serious question when we have to look up Hugo Gernsback on Wikipedia. We reclaim them somewhat however when we look at the new earth-like planet that was discovered last week, and suggest reasons why Gliese 581g might not be the best spot to build a summer home.

All that plus, the fans flood the Facebook page this week, the army actually DOES have an Iron Man suit, and why you may not want to be making fun of your British friends’ teeth. All on America’s most trusted podcast, Lesser Nerds.

It’s time for…. “NERRRRDS IIINNNN SPAAACEEE!” At least it will be soon, since NASA is moving forward with plans to privatize the industry, and starting a new kind of space race. The nerds wonder what kind of seat you’re going to get for your 40 million dollars. Maybe the space industry could take a page from the car industry who this week announced they will soon be making your car stall ….. on purpose. If you can handle the psych out of listening to your car turn off at a red light, you might very well turn out to be the smart one.

Best Buy executive Brian Dunn didn’t seem so smart this week…. He said iPads were stealing over 50% of the laptop market.

It’s showtime baby! The nerds’ vagabond shoes have been longing to stray, so we decided to come north of the border to beautiful T.O. for the Toronto International Film Festival. And that means we have movies on the mind! We start with a multi dimensional look at 3D (Get it? See what we did there? The multi dim… never mind) For example, we ask the now age old question, is 3D dying? We also look at a Toronto based firm that claims to have developed a new method of making 3D with only one camera! And finally we go over at a survey that says YOU may not even want 3D in your home in the first place!

As part of the big show this week, Art’s Uncle Leo joins us in the T dot (that’s what the locals call it) and actually manages to score a few red carpet interviews. Our intern Steve also decides to get out of his van and catch a few of the films here. He has a reviewing style all his own.

Perhaps one of the films from this year’s festival might one day wind up on the list of the most disturbing kid’s movies ever. Or better yet, might be released as a completely unnecessary director’s cut. Lord knows there WILL be listing.

All that plus, last week’s poll results, The Big Lebowski enters the Matrix, and just how much does it actually cost to run iTunes. All on Joaquin Phoenix’s favorite podcast, Lesser Nerds.
